and maybe you will have just gotten home from a 3 month long trip to europe
& a wild dolphin retreat to egypt stumbles upon your path
& you know you must go

it might be completely impractical for you to go
makes no sense actually

and all you have got is your intuition and a deep knowing that you must be on that boat

and then one day on this trip you are swimming eye to eye with a wild dolphin in the red sea and realize you are exactly where you are supposed to be

it is when i first land in prague i go to the bathroom to change out of my airplane clothes and rinse my face with water when i hear

on the announcements

where they then guide me to the police station where they have my passport
that i must have dropped after getting off the plane

i then leave my wallet full of cash on the plane after we landed in egypt
when i realize it is gone i am certain i will not see it again
10 mins later a worker has located my wallet in the exact same state i lost it

we then get a bag full of goodies for the retreat on the bus ride from the airport to the marina (electrolytes, sunscreen, itinerary etc.)
i leave mine on the bus
kael finds it and brings it to me on the boat

at this point it’s laughable and a joke to us all
how i could possibly leave so many things behind yet lose nothing

i then proceed to lose a earring while snorkeling,
already said my goodbyes to it when i realized it was gone
then to have one of the workers on the boat find my earring on the little boat we took out to the dolphins and my friend izzy found the BACKING to my earring and had it set aside

i drop a sock in the ocean
again, said my goodbyes to the sock
a few minutes later a worker brings it to me

the list continues

now don’t get me wrong
i am as type b as it comes

i am no stranger to leaving pieces of myself all over the world however i have never had things come back to me the way they did

all i know is it was the universes way of saying you’re on the right path girl

nothing that is meant for you will ever pass you

it knows you by name

i turn 25 on saturday 🥹

if my 25 year old self could say anything to my 5 year old self, it would be this

do whatever you can to protect your spark and all of the things that make you different
because those are the very things that make you special

one day you’ll spend all of your time trying to become who you already were

when you’re growing up and trying to be accepted by the world, you may start to dull yourself. shrink and shove yourself into a box

which may cause you to stop dancing, and drawing, daydreaming
jumping in the ocean to avoid getting your hair wet and eating cheesecake on your birthday

but it’s okay

because it comes back!

because eventually you’ll realize that the world you tried so hard to impress, actually feels quite grey

and when it does
you will watch all of the colours begin to pour back into your life. into your body. into the way you laugh and dress and create and move and dream
it will feel like magic

and only then will you realize all of the colour has always been you

and you’ll realize that all of the things you spent so long trying to flatten were actually the most precious things about you

who you are and what comes naturally to you are your gifts

it is so beautiful that we are all different. we all have different perspectives, different art, different things to say

you don’t need to become someone else

you are the only person who gets to be avery
